This project presents a series of self-repairable household appliances that employ focused modularity as their core feature. By identifying and isolating the most commonly broken components in electrical appliances, the design makes these critical parts easily replaceable. The initiative directly challenges the industry's practice of planned obsolescence and unrepairable products, highlighting how flawed design—not users or repair services—is often the root cause of premature product failure.
The appliances follow 'simplism' as a design philosophy, emphasizing one critical functional aspect while minimizing visual complexity. The resulting forms are straightforward and intentionally childlike, making them instantly understandable to consumers. Each component features clear design cues that enhance recognition and simplify repairs—eliminating the need for specialized knowledge or excessive time and resources to fix common issues.
Through this approach, the project combines thoughtful product design with accessible repair experiences, prioritizing efficiency and user convenience above all else.
